OUR ACTIVITIES

The Best Start in Life

The activities which we offer at The Enchanted Tree Nursery were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about some of the activities on offer.

PLAY ON PEDALS

Play on Pedals is a partnership project between Cycling UK, Cycling Scotland, The Glasgow Bike Station, and Play Scotland, which aims to teach children to cycle and to enjoy and gain confidence through cycling.

We believe that cycling has both physical and mental health benefits, is sustainable, and is an accessible and low-cost way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which is why many of our team members have undergone training to equip them with the skills to plan and deliver the Play on Pedals programme to our children.

Our expansive outdoor space (particularly the basketball / football court) provides the children with the perfect environment to practice their pedalling skills and we have invested in Strider Balance Bikes to ensure that the children have the best equipment at their disposal.

MUSIC LESSONS

We work with Chime Expressive Arts from time to time to deliver music, dance, and drama sessions to our children, which are both educational and fun.

These classes are delivered by individuals who are qualified in the music field and the key aim is to offer children an introduction to the expressive arts, with each session being designed to include the experiences and outcomes required in the Scottish Government’s Curriculum for Excellence.

Our strong belief is that the sessions will help to enhance each child’s listening and concentration skills, whilst improving balance, co- ordination, and rhythm.

OUTINGS

We have our own minibus here at The Enchanted Tree Nursery, which allows us the freedom to take the children on regular outings, all of which are designed to enhance their learning and development.

Recent trips have included the Riverside Museum, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Summerlee, Tollcross Park Farm, and Bothwell Castle.

SPANISH LESSONS

We are delighted to be working with Kidslingo in the delivery of their award-winning Spanish programme to our children, which fully supports the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence. The focus during these classes is on fun and natural play-based learning, using songs, games, actions, stories and let’s pretend.

Kidslingo are Gold 5 Star accredited members of The Children’s Activities Association, and their classes aim to develop attention span, listening skills, communication and speaking, imaginative play, self-awareness, and self-confidence.

Some of the key benefits for children who attend the classes include enhanced English language development and general communication skills; proven increase in cognitive development including listening skills and attention span; and enhanced cultural capital via a wider world view, supporting their roles as effective global citizens.

SPORTS CLASSES

UTD Sports is a sports coaching company which delivers classes incorporating a mixture of yoga, dance, and gymnastics to our children. This supports our aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle (both physically and mentally) and the programmes offered are designed in conjunction with the Scottish Government’s Curriculum for Excellence.

These sessions offer a fantastic introduction to mindfulness for children, which is extremely important for their wellbeing. The goal is to ensure that all children leave each session feeling peaceful, calm, and happy.
